1. GENERAL
All Hosts accommodating Guests should have the following:
It is a legal requirement that the gas boiler be serviced annually by a CORGI registered heating engineer.
All electrical appliances and fittings must be in full working order at all times
Hosts must be aware of materials that are not fire-resistant, especially old bedding. Mattresses should conform to British standard No 4671 BS 1877
Smoke alarms must be fitted and in working order
There should be adequate escape routes in the event of fire
Stairs must be kept clear of any obstruction
Hosts should have an understanding of the health and safety regulations with regards to cooking and keeping food
Hosts must have a liability insurance to cover them in case of any accident that may occur to a visitor in your home or any paid help working in the home.
2. ROOM SPECIFICATION
Rooms should be of an adequate size so that guests may move around easily. Either a double, single or twin beds. Hanging cupboard, chest of drawers or dressing table. Guests should be notified if rooms are small and this should be reflected in the room rate.
Bathroom
Private bathrooms must be cleaned once a day. Shared bathrooms should also be cleaned daily and checked regularly if used by more than one party of guests Cleaning materials should be left in the bathroom. There must be a clean non slip bath mat and one bath towel and one hand towel per person. It is preferable to have shower facilities
Minimum Contents of a Standard Room
SINGLE BED (recommended minimum size 3’0“X 6’3”), except when folding beds are used as an extra bed for a child
DOUBLE BED (minimum size 4’6” X 6’3”)
Removable mattress protectors (not plastic). Comfortable mattress
Bedside table(s)
Bedside lights(s)
Empty hanging cupboard
Clean carpeted floor or floor boards with suitable rugs
Chest or dressing table and mirror
Suitable window covering - curtains or blinds
Adequate heating which should be on between the hours of 6.00 a.m. - 9.30 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. - 10.00 p.m. when guests are staying during the winter
Continental Breakfast
Choice of tea, coffee, or chocolate and fruit juice
Choice of at least 3 breakfast cereals
Toast and/or rolls and any other type of fresh breads
Butter and perhaps low cholesterol spread
Marmalade and other types of jams and/or honey
All in adequate amounts
Presentation is important and clean table linen should include table napkins. Crockery and cutlery must be in good condition
LINEN
Bed linen should be changed every 3 to 4 days depending on length of stay of guest. Guests must be given one bath towel and one hand towel each which should be changed at least every three days.
KEYS
Front door keys are essential for all visitors.
CLEANING
All rooms should be checked and cleaned daily unless the guest requests otherwise.
